David: Thanks for the link to your great article.... <When Main Street America finally wakes up to the unavoidable fact that even on "new" PCs (as opposed to those stupid "old" mainframes), data and applications are all at risk, and that Microsoft's marketing machine is pretending that a new operating system is going to help Y2K efforts in late 1999, Microsoft is going to have one nasty public relations problem on its hands> I'll keep posting whatever I find on Microsoft and Y2K here. I agree with you that they are looking at 'a nasty public relations problem'. In addition, when the press and the public finally wake up to how unprepared Microsoft is on this issue, I believe it will be a key turning point on the whole issue. Guess Bill Gates is the richest man in the world but - whoops - not the smartest. Christine

David I just read your article dated 11-18-98,an excellent article that brought up a couple of questions. Does MSFT dominate the PC markets overseas the way they do in the USA? If a company is using "Pirated" software how likely are they to be able to fix and use their PC's? What are your current thoughts on how MSFT is doing? "Microsoft is just assuming these folks will IMMEDIATELY upgrade both their hardware and applications to windows 2000" Has this been happening or is it just pie in the sky? J.L.T.
