Jay,

I use an 18 bar moving average on nearly all duration charts I follow. Don't know what it is about 18... But it seems to be a magnet. I don't fool with crossovers, as i've found applying the Barnes Moving Average to a 60 minute SPX cash chart via 8 bar lengths gives more accurate signals with less bad ones. Even better returns are available on the NDX with the Barnes applied to a 30 minute chart via 25 bar lengths. I use 2% of price filters for both with no stops, and the signals are good quality with consistent returns.

Regards,

David
