victor,

Why ??? would Kumar make such a DRASTIC lowered call rather than maybe moving CPQ fro .35 to .28ish ???

Kumar's call impact still unknown

Michael

Victor- In issue of fairness, Kumar has not been wrong on all the issue (although he may be off here)..

He has been right on Dell much more than not...he was a strong bull until October....at that point, he started talking about lower revenues for Dell (he was right), and he got both the 3Q and 4Q estimates right on the money...

GTW? He was right last summer, and was this first analyst (by far) to call a shortfall by GTW...He IS out on a limb with a .90 estimate for this quarter, but I don't think you can call him wrong yet..

Ditto for Compaq's "stuffing" (or not) for 4Q...Fact is, we don't know whether or not this occurred (yet)

Of all the PC analysts, Kumar has been as accurate as any over the last year...and has made some early, against-the-grain, (correct) calls...I am not a fan of his manner...but his record is pretty good..

Having said this, his recent call on Gateway (.90) does sound extreme...as does his .20 call on Compaq...I also heard, in Dell's CC, Kumar tell Dell's CFO that Dell's 4Q PC sales growth was "anemic"...that is a bit harsh without a doubt..

One thing's for sure, someone is going to eat crow here...I am hoping it is not CPQ shareholders...
