<<I would hope that some of these criminals would also have something to contribute to society if they admit to their crimes and ask for forgiveness.>>

Well, we don't usually put addicts or thieves to death if we catch them and they admit to their crimes and ask for forgiveness. Especially if they demonstrate a change of heart in the manner you have suggested.

We were discussing examples of a much higher level of crime. You are dodging here. Why?

Any way, if you want to switch to this population fine. The drug addicts or theives who sincerely turn their lives around and commit to helping others definitely deserve our support. How about the ones who decide they will be smarter next time so we don't catch them. We do catch them lots but probably not often enough. We enable this cold hard attitude you know and we put bars on the windows of our homes because we are no longer able to maintain a decent level of trust in our communities. Well maybe not in your community because these people live in mine, not yours. That is by design I think.

I have dealt with lots of people who've been through the criminal system. A thousand are out there attracting others to their way of life for every one that has come clean and speaks against it.
