Gee, Lene, do you really love this guy a lot? If you do, I suspect you could turn his long absences into an advantage for you--getting involved in activities he isn't particularly interested in when he's away, and then having an intense love fest when he's around.

I have never been in this type of relationship, however. Can anyone else here advise Lene on this one?

Lene, are you and your man connected by icq or another of the 'chat' lines? I know it's not being together, but it's a remarkable technology that would enable you to 'talk' together, real time, much more satisfactorily than letters or even email, and of course has the advantage of being free, if you already both have internet connection. I lived out of the US for five years, and missed my friends terribly, and a phonecall was just for special occasions, and being able to converse with them on icq would have made a big difference.

I'm not saying it is like being with your friend; but i think it is one very good addition to the list of coping aids.

If you're not connected by icq, and you both have computers, PM me and I'll tell you how to do it.

Lene~

does he have a computer? you may want to try a chat line, such as ICQ or AOL buddy. both easy to download and free. you could keep in contact every day and it might take some of the sting out of his absence.

take care and be well
