Linda, OT: Looks like you got about as much sleep as I did. Did you figure out what you are going to do with your March 17.5's?

During recapitalization if VLSI increases its debt/equity ratio, then Wall Street will not like it! VLSI opened with a positive bias today! Dow up 62 points, crossed 10000. Nasdaq up 17. Looks like a great day!

Hi Linda, Recapitalization could mean several things. I've had one company "recapitalize" by raising an incredible sum of debt and spinning off essentially all of the stock's face value to shareholders. This was Sealed Air Corp. If you have Value Line handy, take a look at their chart, it shows the recap. as a huge vertical line in the stock's price. At the time is was done as a defense against take-over, I believe. The stock was at about $50/share and they gave away about $45 to shareholders in CASH and hocked the company! Interesting strategy. They went from very good positive book value to a NEGATIVE CAPITALIZATION in one move!

Ain't this fun?

Best regards, Tom
