Are there any tech-heads on this thread who can evaluate BRCM and others' potential to participate in the market for fiber optic multiplexing? As I understand the problem, bandwidth demands grow exponentially, but if you can tweak the carry capacity of existing lines, that's a lot cheaper than stringing new cable. If there's an internet gold rush, I think the easy money is made by investing in companies that sell shovels and picks (e.g. CSCO and BRCM among many, many others).
