Hello resident experts at SI.

I am here to offer you a new challenge. My friend has installed some Earthlink software on his Dell laptop. To make a long story short this has somehow screwed up the registry beyond all repair; at least in my opinion. My friend is a bozo and did not back up his hardrive, ever!

Is there any program available that he can buy that we can use to transfer his data to my hardrive? I would then rebuild his software system and reinstall his data. We cannot currently access the explorer so coping files to a disk directly does not seem possible.
