excellent feedback, richard.

i think i'll try ie5.0.

i like how you say that netscape is in a war they can't win :) i assume this is based on microsoft's power, resources, etc?

do you have any knowledge of the upcoming communicator5.0? other than that it's been delayed ;) i've read that it may leapfrog over ie5.0 into the leadership position.

i know that communicator4.5 is at this time a very stable browser for me. i've never known that to be true of msie browsers. but this version appears to be different.

is it correct that ie5.0 is on it's second beta?

and that sounds great about reporting back to us when you begin the implementation of the intranet with ie5.0. i look forward to that.

one more thing... one of the rants i've heard regarding ie4.0 is that it is hell to uninstall. do you know of any similar uninstall probs with ie5.0?

have a good weekend, richard. hope your studies are coming along fine! 4.0 gpa, i'm sure? ;)

mark

Whew, I'm breathing a little easier now.
Loaded OSR2 (950B) over top of my original Windows95 (950A). Used Partition Magic to convert everything on both hard drives to FAT32 and 4K clusters. All went pretty noneventful but I was nervous.

Question though; the computer that the OSR2 disk came with has a 950C version of Win95. Is that a downloadable upgrade to OSR2? When I loaded the OSR2 disk I just ended up with 950B.

Anyone know?

Steve

Richard,

Here's one for ya:

I was doing a little inventory and cleanup on my files today and found this anomaly:

(Using Win95)
If I open My Computer and right click on C: and Properties, I see Used Space = 252MB. Now if I open C:, select all, and right-click in the highlighted area and choose Properties, size of the total files is 239MB -- I'm missing 13MB.

For comparison's sake, I did the same thing in my NT installation (which I haven't gotten a vid card for yet) and the difference was 351MB vs 319MB (sp3 & 4 installed).

Is this some low level stuff taking up this space or what?

Thanks for shining the light,
wily

Richard...I have Win 98 and have did quite a few of the Windows Updates using their auto update feature. But the last couple nights I have had problems trying to update the two following programs. It comes back with errors saying incomplete..try again.

Has anyone else had this problem with these two updates:

Windows Media Player 6.1
DirectX Media 6.0 Runtime
