<<so whats the value in aol with a +600pe...it's a momentum move.>>

edamo: I enjoy reading your posts. My DELL holdings are currently almost 5 times as large as my AOL holdings. In the last few months it is true that I would have been better off having more AOL. Yet, I don't invest for weekly or monthly returns. In the next few years we'll see where both stocks stand. AOL's market cap. is about as large as DELLs. Don't get me wrong, I like AOL and feel that it is the premiere internet access and new media firm to own. Yet, its valuation is getting quite rich. I will hold my AOL shares and my DELL shares. DELL is now "temporarily out of favor" by some of the momentum investors and large growth fund investors. IMHO that will change in the next few months -- as the potential PC slowdown is better understood. DELL's competitors (like CPQ and HWP) could really be hurt and I feel that the slowdown will be company-specific. As DELL proves that their robust growth will continue and evolves into more of an internet company they should earn a higher valuation. The fundamentals behind DELL are still very strong.

In the LONG RUN.. DELL will continue to prove they are the next DELL !!!

Best Regards,

Scott

I agree. The current mania and speculation in AOL and other interNUTS are way overdone. Most analysts are nothing more than stock pushers, and inconsistent in their view and comments. When a stock is down, they all come out and pile up on it with negative comments. When a stock is up, they are all chasing it with positive comments and upgrades. What a bunch of herds! AOL's ISP business is commodity business with strong competitions. They are charging $19.95 per month for internet connection, many ISP offers the same or better service at much lower price. With AT&T and many baby bells getting into ISP service, AOl will not be able to hold its $19.95 per month charge. When they start lowering the monthly charge, this stock will tank. A P/E of 100-200 may be OK, but a P/E of 500-600 is completely insane.

Hi Edamo

I agree with your assessment of Dell. I think that the downgrade of IBM hurt Dell today as most techs did fall in sympathy. I am hoping that next week Dell will be looked at as a buying opportunity. I do not have to convince you how solid a company Dell is and I think it is a screaming buy at this price.

Best Wishes
Frank
