Bill & Roger -

I had to laugh at myself. I NEVER thought I'd even come close to considering a stock like NS, but I, too am seriously contemplating taking a small position to be held long term.

Steel. Who'da figured?

Bill, Roger and Thread,

regarding NS...

You won't be able to track quarterly earnings without going back and reading individual quarterly reports. There are occasional one time gains that give the stock big bursts in earnings. I used my www.wsj.com account to double check this.

Roger, regarding Bill's other inquiry...are you aware of the record of dividends or any recent changes? Seems that it would be unlikely to fall unless the company has a few quarters with losses or needs cash urgently for expansion.

Bill:

Been perusing the thread and trying to get a "feel" as to what is going on. I believe your statement a little harsh about "ignoring" those that only post blurbs. I myself am learning quite a bit from you "intelligent" "types". When I see a stock or company worth investigating I jump in and begin dissection. Any info I can pass along I do. Not much on words and probably in some cases couldn't qualify my opinions as you boys do. My "dough" is very "hard earned".

Thanks...
Ron C.
