Gold In A Deflationary Economy, Part - XI

<< If you're in Asia, you're already "enjoying" a bull market in gold, although I must note that the word "enjoy" may not be very appropriate since many are struggling to survive the bursting of the speculative bubble. Nonetheless, for those have been holding gold their operational wealth has been all but preserved since gold skyrocketed in terms of Asian currency, reflecting more the collapse of their respective currencies than bullish fundamentals for gold. However, it's all relative, so to speak, and fundamentals for gold have, in fact, been bullish in Asia even while bearish in the western world. As a result, I feature the charts of gold in terms of Asian currency on this page, since it depends upon where one lives as to whether or not gold is bullish or bearish, and whether or not inflation or deflation is occurring. -- cont'd -- >>

Boulder News - Boulder Daily Camera
Health-care professionals discuss Y2K
By Debra Melani
Camera Staff Writer
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dorm rooms on the University of Colorado campus are packed with people unable to stay warm or take care of themselves. Volunteer nurses make the rounds, checking on the elderly and chronically ill who have managed to win one of the 10,000 beds.

Down the road, Boulder Community Hospital staff rushes around, performing duties much as they practiced during disaster-preparedness training. Fuel pumped in from the county's two emergency 5,000-gallon tankers heats the hospital, which has resorted to its Mapleton campus swimming pool for water.(cont)

Old "Deerslayer" Henry. He was here in Marathon County a year or so ago on his way to the dedication of some building in Marshfield for Melvin Laird. His limo hit a deer and had its radiator smashed. A farmer in a pickup offered a ride and Kissinger rode up front with the guy--the secret service stuffed in the back. He is said to have commented. "I prefer a pick-up ride any day over a damned limo."
