There is a project out there attempting to do this (WINE, aka WINE Is Not an Emulator); apparently they are having some success, but are stymied by the usual programming problems, plus the difficulty of trying to hit the moving target that is the Winders API. Now being funded at least in part by Corel, and much luck to 'em.

Everyone has a vested interest in having a standard -- it doesn't matter which, as long as it works. I hope folks realize, better to have that standard owned by nobody/everybody than by Microsoft. My fear is Microsquash realizes that it doesn't matter to them, as long as they own the applications (e.g., Office)

I have an old Win box at home, but my little web site (on a pal's computer) is run entirely off free software: Linux, Apache, PHP and (semi-free) MySQL. Free, both as in free beer and as in free speech.
