George and thread --

One aspect that I keep thinking about is the critical mass that CMGi holds in the Internet start-up space. Think about it. If you're cooking up a really neat Internet business idea and are looking for funding, CMGI @Ventures is THE place to go for funding... If @ventures puts money into you, it sends this HUGELY positive signal to the market. Entrepreneurs kill to attach that kind of credibility to their businesses. That, and the kereietsu (oh, I won't even TRY to spell that one correctly!!) effect makes CMGi a MAGNET for excellent startups. To me, that means that DW and the gang are sifting through 1,000 quality business plans a month with the luxury of selecting the ripest, most delicious fruits. If you buy into this line of thinking, it suggests that the best CMGi businesses may still be in development and are as yet unheard of -- even to CMGi execs...

That's one of the main reasons why I consider this a long-term core hold.

hello george,

"Finally, with regard to extending the reach of CMGi even further, it will be interesing to see if the discussions about starting an @Ventures IV fund with some global focus moves forward."

oh yes, i almost forgot about the new fund (up to 1B) that we should hear about in the summer - THANK YOU for reminding me

as of late, i have been thinking about how i may want to diversify my portfolio a little bit out of the U.S. market into some of the emerging and asian markets as these areas of the world pick up the pieces from the recent contagion - it is obvious that great growth potential exists as the world's populations get onto the internet - BUT i see that CMGi is looking ahead for me in this regard

*OT*
CONGRATULATIONS on your investments in DCLK, RNWK, NSOL and others - i'm eagerly waiting for my INKT to go on a tear once their shopping comparison engine is launched HOPING

good luck
