Howzit Blue,

Great to hear the Rockies are looking and feeling beautiful. One day I'll pass through. Haven't been past the Coast so far.

1) 909 also means you doubled your money. With some some stocks you get double or triple 909ers, GNET is such a stock.

Man, I passed on Go2Net the first time it ran. I put in a limit order @ 39, and it ran to 50 without me. It came back to the 30s, but I ignored it, even though I am one of the thousands of SI addicts who visits the site more than once a day!

Talk about missing the train.

Now, one of my 909s has been AOL, which I recall you were very neutral about not so long ago. What's your position on it now? Slightly bullish, maybe?

2 & 3) Alta Vista/CPQ is the 5th busiest tech site on the internet, people have blinders on.

I haven't visited the site, but is it really that good? Steve Harmon talked about it once and mentioned that they should really improve content before it goes public.

Of course, a little more cash in the coffers would help Alta Vista juice up its joint, wouldn't it?

The reason I wondered about CPQ and whether you'd sell is, so many of the companies that spun off IPOs (i.e. DBCC, MALL) tanked a day or two before the IPO hit the market.

Sounds like you have complete conviction in the CPQ-Alta Vista situation.

Now, some new stuff...what's your take on NSOL? I sold out a few weeks ago, but the company drummed up a ton of support during conferences, and the recent good news has been helpful.

Also, what do you think of the YHOO-BCST rumor and the effect on RNWK this week?

I'm holding RNWK, DCLK and AOL, as well as Pacific Internet.

PacNet...I don't think I'll see 60 on it for a few weeks...but things will get better over the next several months as the subscriber base gains momentum across Asia. For the short term, it is volatile as heck. Been up from 46 to 54 twice, then 46 to 51 two more times in the past week.

Mahalo,
Paul
