Chat oil

Sue,

I would think that higher oil prices would most certainly take away from the airline's bottom line. As lower oil prices went directly to the bottom line of the oil producers.

The recent spike in oil prices should be reflected in the bottom line of oil producers like Mobil, Exxon, Texaco, etc. and of course the smaller producers. Since oil prices have jumped up roughly 50% or slighly less from their lows, I would expect to see the earnings of these producers to rise.

Locally we are already starting to see people get optimistic again about oil prices, where a month ago people were ready to throw in the towel as I was.

If you don't have this site bookmarked I'd definitely recommend it. Mike Simmons has done an excellent job of analyzing oil service stocks, mostly offshore drillers. I'd also recommend signing up for his free newsletter, it's the best on this sector that I've ever seen.
