Hello Vitas,

I still get a kick out Birinyi. He's got BIG hangers to stand in front of a conference full of "Earn their paycheck with TA" folks and tell them their methods are outdated and don't work.

I've found that the NYSE Bullish Percent Index is as good a proxy at calling the big picture market as there is. Here's a previous post on Birinyi and the referenced index.
