New product release is a disaster - here's what I sent

--------------------------------------------------------------------

I wanted to take the time to give Omega my feedback on this product even though I returned the product. As a long-time TradeStation user (5 years), I was very disappointed with the all of the problems that I encountered and regret that it was a very frustrating experience.

Note that I received two packages because I originally ordered the TS 2000 upgrade, then decided to buy ProSuite. Starting with fresh installations from both CDs, the same problems occurred.

Here is a summary of the problems that occurred. First, here is my hardware and software setup:

- Windows 98
- Dual monitor
- Dell Dimension XPS R450, 128MB RAM, 15 GB disk space

The problems:

1. I set up a portfolio of 300 symbols, using PC Quote as my data feed. When I imported the data from the HISTORYBANK CD, the data was garbled on the charts. For example, the IBM data from 2/16/99 onward showed prices at 27 instead of in the 160's. Other chart data was wrong also, usually after 2/16/99.

2. Since the imported data was bad, I downloaded the data from the Omega refresh data area. That worked okay, but of course the split data is not included, so I decided to delete this data and try again. When I deleted the data from 3/1/99 to current, not all the data was deleted from the charts. Very strange that one data point was not deleted from the charts for March 12th.

3. When I used the vertical pointer "|" and drag it across the chart, it leaves a trail of white pixels across the screen. You have to refresh the chart in order to get rid of the white pixels.

4. Downloading from HISTORYBANK.COM was a nightmare, and I tried both of my ISPs. For example, I tried to download 300 symbols on an end-of-day basis from March 1st to current (about 20 days), and the download took over 4 hours. This is ridiculous considering that direct downloading support of other data such as Dial/Data was taken out of the software. And then for imported data only 1 symbol can be imported at a time!

I spent over 2 days trying to get this simple portfolio set up, and the data problems prevented me from examining any new features of the product. What a shame - I was really looking forward to the new release.
