Well Jenna, it looks like another $2,000 product that can't install properly. I just finished returning TradeStation to Omega, now it looks like PatternSmasher is on the same course.

Imagine my trepidation when I opened the box and saw the dreaded hardware lock, also known as a DONGLE - known to wreak havoc on the parallel port. But the documentation clearly stated that the block would not interfere with printer operation. Wrong!

When the product installed and the system rebooted, it froze my screen. I rebooted again and everything appeared fine. I started the PatternSmasher program and it caused the printer to spit out a sheet with a "u" on it. When I tried to print out a mail message, it gave me a communications error. So here's the dilemma, do you want to print or do you want to smash patterns?

Unbelievable.

Okay Jenna, PatternSmasher is working now. Be aware of potential conflicts between printer software and the hardward block drivers. If you have the most recent drivers, then you should be able to install without any problems. Let me know how it goes.
