Explain to me, anybody, the goodness of this cause or why it is in the best interests of the US to wade into this.

I understand the impulse to want to stop the killing, somehow. To do something.

This is another issue that doesn't divide along left/right lines. I hear Trent Lott is getting together a bipartisan effort to defund any adventure Clinton might have in mind over there.

I don't profess to know the answer.
>>genocide of Shiite and Kurdish villagers. <<
What is the heritage of the Shiite and Kurds?
The Shiites are Muslim aren't they?
It seems that somewhere I read that the Kurds were mentioned in the Bible under a different name. The same group of people, but a different name.
I know that Muslims and Christians don't see eye to eye. You know that I am wrong and I know that you are wrong, but why do we, as people, always have to think we have to kill off the other. Yes, Moses was told to do that as they went into the promised land, but the inhabitants were the REPHAIM and God wanted them destroyed. God's the boss!

brees,

Being a Muslim do you have six eyes and a tail? Are you less than a Christian? My take is no. Clinton has been pounding Muslims for a while, mostly as a cover for his screw ups. Now he's gonna put some whipdick ( a rural term) on some Christians to show he is "good" on foreign policy. The cry by liberals that the policy on Iraq is inherited is bullshit. He should back off on Iraq and stay out of Kosovo. God, it's a civil war. Serbs defending their homes. Stay out of Iraq and let them live their lives.

I listen to WLS talk radio and on one of their liberal shows a guy called in about Somilia. The massacre of American troops was Bush's fault. Sheeee yit, Clinton had been in charge of that one for months and changed the mission.

My take is that when ever one side gets ahead it makes hay. Don't matter, Christian, Jew, Muslim or a basketball team.

Okay, from another thread:
The Serbs are the ones who have the most destabilizing intentions in the region, therefore they are the one's who could use humbling. No one is disputing their right to Kosovo, only their right to decimate the Albanians in order to drive them out or force them to assimilate. If NATO cannot do something to prevent chaos in the Balkans, which will almost certainly embroil two members (Greece and Turkey), will invite participation by neighbors (such as Croatia), and will lead to another round of refugees streaming into Germany and Austria, and, at a minimum, political and diplomatic turmoil among our principal allies, then it will have lost most of its credibility, and aggressor regimes will be everywhere encouraged. Besides, it is not clear that we can afford to let the Muslim world perceive us as turning our backs on genocide involving Muslims, or leave an aid gap they will be tempted to fill.
