I just found this URL on the MBtrading thread. Has anyone used this StockTax software?

obvioussoft.com

From their web site:

The only program which do all this hard work for you in minutes ... so you can "FILE AND FORGET" your 1099b tax profit/loss history! Save many days of your precious life and hundreds of $$$ - while other Traders, who don't have StockTax98 are wasting time! You just point StockTax98 from ObviousSoft to the file(s) where you stored your trading history on your hard drive and click on "Start Report". StockTax98 will intelligently sort by date, put your buys and sells together, figure broker commissions, translate the ticker symbol into the name and then generate for each trade the total profit and loss. All in the format accepted by the IRS. DONE! - FINITO!

Tradertax.com's Trader Tax Guides from December 1998 are useful and correct for tax returns being filed for 4/15/99.

We updated that Guide and also published an entire new 1998 Trader Tax Return Examples Guide to help our customers more. The new IRS proposed regulations did not come out until February, 1999. Tax publishers don't even include new proposed regulations on their CD-ROMs until 6 weeks after. We did it in less than 2 weeks and notified all our customers. We also offered them discount upgrade prices.

We analyzed this new information and published our own ideas and strategies for dealing with this latest information. We did it all fast enough to help our customers and clients get the information they need in order not to miss the important 4/15/99 election deadline and to benefit from these new Trader tax laws.

Many people refer to one other book on the market, but that book is very old and in our opinion out of date.

Our 1998 Trader Tax Guide & Questionnaire and our new 1998 Trader Tax Return Examples Guides are the only up to date trader tax guides on the market. We think they are the only complete source of Trader tax information available anywhere at this time and there is not much time left before April 15, 1999.
