Well said, those were my thoughts exactly. Not that the PIII is a bad product, just maybe not "screaming" enough to make buyers rush out and get it.

But again, this could set up nicely for DRDRAM intro, assuming the tech issues get resolved. The PC industry has got to latch onto something to sell more boxes, and perhaps it will be RDRAM this fall!?

We'll see!

bp, suggest your son buy a 486. We know that was a screaming success, and there is no CPU-ID issue. Better drop back to Windows 3.1, too, so you can run WORD 2.0. No ID issue there, either.

Seriously, buying a PII now would be a big mistake, imo. Why buy last year's model?
