I'm not the best one to address your question, but here's a quick attempt.

The racemate drug has equal amounts of both isomers. In fact, they are dual-isomer products. Each molecule contains mirror image isomers. A left hand and a right hand if you want to look at it that way. The generic manufacturers will produce a generic version of the racemate (dual-isomer) drug.

This will not be difficult to monitor and it will not effect Sepracor. Sepracor's Prozac ICE is a single isomer product. They use the word "Pure". They have eliminated the (S) isomer completely. It's not a different mix of the two isomers, it's a drug that is created from only one of the isomers.

Please correct me if I'm wrong. I'll go back to thinking about the business end of Sepracor and leave the science to others that are more suited to address such questions.
