Except that Charter -- Allen's cable company -- is putting itself in a position to compete with @home, using Go2Net as its vehicle. It's hard to say whether he'd compete with any Microsoft offerings, but he's been known to do so in the past -- like when he became, briefly, a major owner of AOL at the time Microsoft was planning to compete head-on through MSN.

Alos like the further 'rumor' of a settlement. My gut feeling tells me that we will have a steep rise later this week, just as AOL did two days before it split.
