Lynn: When Prodigy buys out COMPAQ to get at AV and it spins of CPQ's hardware and services as an IPO, will long-suffering, loyal shareholders get free shares in the new IPO?

Lynn,

Are you sure about the IPO from Prodigy?? I had heard that since Prodigy was going to severance EP, EM and others in top management, they were going to take the hardware & service business private in an LBO. Of course, I think there were also rumors that they are having difficulty getting the necessary financing, but I had also heard that will be no problem because they should be able to self-fund the enterprise from recent CPQ stock sales.

Lynn and fooledalot: Now look what you've done! But don't panic. As long as you don't dump your CPQ shares when it gets out that the rumour was false, you should be alright with the SEC.

Has anyone else heard these rumors that Prodigy is considering buying Compaq? Can anyone elaborate on it?

From what I've heard, Prodigy wants to buy Compaq to get AV, and then spin off the Hardware/Service parts of Compaq in an IPO. This makes absolutely no sense to me. If they really want AV, why not buy it when Compaq spins it off instead of buying all of Compaq.

Is there any truth to these rumors?

Do your homework and stop bulling.
