AboveNet's San Jose ISX Extends Its Dominance as the U.S. Hub For
Asia-Pacific Internet Companies

SAN JOSE, Calif., March. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- AboveNet Communications Inc. (Nasdaq:
ABOV - news), the architect of a global one-hop network that brings together high
bandwidth content sites and Internet Service Providers (ISP) in a centralized co-location
facility, announced today that Singapore Telecom has chosen to ally with AboveNet in order
to take advantage of the benefits of their global one-hop network. The 3-year strategic
business development alliance will provide Singapore Telecom (SingTel), the architect of
the Singapore Telecom Internet Exchange (SingTel IX), with a U.S. presence and a direct
connection into the U.S. for its ISP and high-bandwidth content site customers.

SingTel IX has direct connections to more than 20 countries stretching from the India
subcontinent to outlying Pacific islands and is positioned to become the regional Internet hub
of Asia Pacific. Through AboveNet's network, content providers and ISPs connected to or
co-located at SingTel IX can directly access other Asian ISPs, U.S. content providers and
ISPs, and European ISPs co-located at AboveNet's Internet Service Exchange(TM)
(ISX(TM)) facilities. They will also benefit from AboveNet's over 210 peering agreements,
both in the U.S. and worldwide. This one-hop global network architecture will improve the
reliability of the connectivity to SingTel IX and enable Internet applications requiring high
bandwidth, low latency and low packet loss.

''AboveNet provides a competitive edge that allows SingTel to expand its value-added
services globally throughout AboveNet's multiple facilities and reliable, scalable network,''
says Lim Shyong, Senior Vice President of Global Services for Singapore Telecom, ''We
are very pleased by AboveNet's ISP and major content provider client list. SingTel is also
impressed by AboveNet's passion for the ISX model and its one-hop network architecture
that is allowing the Internet to realize the potential of emerging applications such as Voice
over IP.''

''The AboveNet/SingTel alliance will help AboveNet extend our presence in the Asia
Pacific market with AboveNet's proven ISX model, which provides a more reliable,
scalable and faster connection than today's Internet infrastructure currently allows.'' said
Sherman Tuan, Founder and Chief Executive Officer for AboveNet. ''This alliance will help
SingTel expand its network services both across the U.S. and worldwide. It is a win/win for
both companies.''
