Clarke...the harmonization of the modes is still in the works. Please do not draw premature conclusions at this point on any parameter. The key here is a single standard supporting IS41 and GSM which was being fought by ETSI and 3GPP (essentially blowing off TABD.) We will now use operators to help resolve some of the other items and have already made progress.

I have great respect for the many valuable contributions you have made over the years to us laymen, and for your latest views. Like others, I hate to see you disappointed on this great day.

MSFT did not have to get into infrastructure. QCOM simply had no choice. Eventually they reached a juncture where there was a choice, and I trust their judgement. By staying in, they might have made lots of money up against bigger and more experienced competitors in this phase of the business, yes. By selling to ERICY, they guarantee a much more rapid global build-out while retaining the family jewels, and enlarging ASIC markets. They also gain cash to leverage the existing jewelry business and to concentrate on the limitless, high value added opportunities which abound in so many other areas.

We can be sure that everyone in the industry will know what has really taken place, and that enough people on Wall Street are beginning to see the light to assure that future valuations fall into line.
