mfgrep,

Greed goeth before a (financial) fall, and sometimes we forget. I hope that QWST is not purchased until we reach the 80s at least. Once a fast-growing company is purchased by a larger and slower company the quick and easy gains are gone.

Good move on those shares.

Jason......unfair question for you. Based on your Dads' "everyone has their price".

What would you accept for QWST now ? Me ? If everything we hear is accurate or in the reasonable range as far as buildout I have to consider a few things.

Upside:
1. Only 50 % of the shares are available to us. Paul will set a real high price.

2. The network is scheduled to light up in the summer. I mean completed !!

3. It is obvious that bandwidth will be what oil wells were to Texas when cars were invented and ran on gas.

4. There is destined to be tons of info sent including voice, date, internet, long distance etc ....on and on. Seems bandwidth requirement is doubling every ...is it six months ?

5. Includes part of 4 with AOL, MFST etc etc . More need for bandwidth.

6. Europe, Asia etc

Based on the above 5 points, you would have to guess $ 400/ share or more in 3 years or less. Maybe more considering the summer completion.

Downside:

1. Last mile connecting. Wireless ? We don't have it. Take fiber to the buildings ? Expensive. Losing residential is no big deal. Last mile is a big deal. We need something to get us from the tracks to the consumer. RBOC ? Wireless ?

2. Competition. Enough for all. Non-event

On downside, it will cost $100 /share.

Final guess including downside. OK, based on my uninformed analysis, I'll take $ 300 in two years.

Wow...let's see what responses I get here :-)

A while ago on an Australian website that purports to have its ear to the ground, there was printed a "rumour" that Qwest was going to acquire a substantial number of shares of General Magic (GMGC). Because GMGC will shortly be in need of more capital, and because GMGC uses the Qwest backbone, the "rumour" has some staying power, at least in my slight mind.

Does anyone have anything on this "rumour"?

TIA
