Satyam launches 'walletwatch.com'---->Satyam launches Walletwatch.com Date: 26-03-1999 :: Pg: 07 :: Col: c Our Bureau NEW DELHI, March 25 SATYAM Infoway, India's first private Internet service provider (ISP) and a leading e-commerce player, unveiled on Thursday www.walletwatch.com, the first personal finance and investment Web site designed in the country. Walletwatch.com is designed as a one-stop Internet shop for all personal finance-related information and services. It has been modelled on the lines of other similar successful Web sites worldwide such as Yahoo! Finance, Etrade, MoneyCentral from MSN etc. Walletwatch.com was formally launched by Dr. Manmohan Singh, the former Indian Finance Minister, at a press conference here. Mr. Singh stressed the need to introduce major changes in the Indian legal framework to facilitate e-commerce in the country. ''We should create a mind-set of change in our bright young entrepreneurs and industrialists and exploit the opportunities available in information technology and e-business. We should celebrate change,'' he said, speaking on the changing business paradigm with the use of information technology. Ms. Padma Chandrasekharan, Vice-President, Internet Online Business, said, ''Indian Web sites on the Internet should be all about providing the Indian user with services utilities, information and excitement that are relevant to him in his daily life. Satyam has been doing this via a variety of channels covering areas like car purchase, movies, news, and shopping on its portal, www.satyamonline.com, and now extends this facility to personal finance.'' During the press conference, two retail investment services organisations, Karvy Investor Services and Investmart, a subsidiary of IL&FS, announced their intention to partner with Satyam Infoway in providing financial trading and transaction services support to SatyamOnline subscribers and registered users of Walletwatch.com. hindubusinessline.com
