Thanks Keith, That's a nice article and confirms some of my own thinking. I've been watching the options and the $17.50s and the $20s are the only ones that are doing much. Higher prices and distance in time doesn't seem to do much to improve the contract prices, so my guess is that the $20 offer is going to be the final deal.

There's still rumors of a competing bid coming from STM and that it might be a cash/stock deal. That's not yet been confirmed by anyone, however. I'm still learning lots from all this activity.

Best regards, Tom

Hi Keith, AIM's been begging me to sell some VLSI shares for a couple of weeks. I've held off while waiting for some dust to settle. Today I'm attempting to sell some July $20 Calls against about 15% of my remaining shares. That's how many shares AIM wants me to sell at $20. I'm trying to get $0.75 for the contracts, and it I do, then the "deal" price will have to be above $20-3/4 for me to "lose" money on the Call Contracts.

Since I'm not doing anything AIM wouldn't have me do anyway, I don't feel I'm violating the program any. I'm beginning to think that about $20 is what the deal will settle for. In either case, since the shares will be sold profitably, I win. It's just a matter of degree. :-)

Should the deal be done for $20 or less, then the shares will go at the deal price. However, I keep the Call Contract premium which will let Jane and I enjoy several meals out at Wisconsin's great restaurants!

Best regards, Tom
