rudedog: I read the WSJ article to the effect that (a ) COMPAQ began the dealer incentives on Presario in March. Probably early in March because it seems already to have improved the mood of the re-sellers b) that additional incentives/changes will be announced on Tuesday (too late to effect 1Q). Tuesday is also 3/30/99 the day Paine Webber is supposed to have an analyst meeting with COMPAQ and the day of the mysterious Webcast from COMPAQ.

I wonder whether their reference to conveying the information "not by TV but by Webcast" explains why there are no COMPAQ TV ads in the UK, none referenced on the CPQ UK web site, either, although all their Radio Ads are referenced. But there are a lot of CPQ Banner ads on MSN-UK.

Maybe they are going to emphasise that they will use the web to advertise, rather than TV. Emphasise their conversion to the internet as the preferred way of dealing with their market.

I notice she_x on the Club Thread told an anecdote about a COMPAQ product sale worth $62 million last week. Small in the great scheme of things, but significant in that it indicates big buyers think that the conditions/prices are right in March.

Rudedog:**OT**

That's even better. If Bigfoot becomes CEO, is the Lochness Monster a logical choice for CFO?
