You don't seem to comprehend.

The EPIC design doesn't just "guess" which branch to take.

It pulls in BOTH BRANCHES and executes them in parallel (data dependencies of course need to be resolved).

Once the target-branch is determined, the results of that branch are retained and the results from the "wrong branch" are simply discarded.

PARALLEL is the key word.

You seem to be very nervous about the possibility of success of this IA/64 architecture - and you SHOULD BE !
