Pete -

I think your explanation makes more sense than another one that's been suggested here. (Actually, it wasn't suggested, it was stated as if it were a fact.)

Today's volume is light, though, so it's not a very scary move.

BTW, I just looked at IOM's chart for the last two months. I could have sworn that there was a previous move below five, but it doesn't show where I'm looking.

Even so, I would not be surprised to see the stock dip lower unless and until there is some good news from the company. Once again, the earnings report and conference call should be very interesting.

you're possibly correct. The zip drives continues to increase in numbers along with the disks. Clik is on backorder, new announcements coming, IOM has magnetoresitive drives in house and working well - but hasn't chosen to release info on them yet. IOM stated during last CC that they have new products related to the internet that they'd be announcing. Although they haven't announced these "new products" (who knows why), in a conversation yesterday with them they stated that information hasn't changed. they just don't crunch the numbers like they used to do they. our guy is still holding and will buy more.

everyday about 35,000 more zip drives are sold. and all those zips need disks. analysts questioning selling low margin drives for high margin disks are - well, good questioners.

If the 3 day settlement rule applies to funds or brokerages then today should be the last day they had to clear the books because any sell on monday would settle on Thur. April 1...so anything sold today would settle and be off their books by 3/31/99, the end of the quarter. The opposite also applies the buying should start on Monday, a day Brokerage houses (SSB) can reiterate the recco's or upgrade based on attractive price.............who knows?
