rudedog,

That's an excellent machine for it's price. But what confounds me is how CPQ is making money selling this sort of boxes. If I were to put together such a box myself, excluding labor it would have cost me something like $550 (assuming $150 worth of s/w including the O/S). Of course CPQ enjoys better component pricing, but including labor and reseller markup I can hardly see any margin left.

Where I am going wrong?

-BGR.

Rudedog:

Aha, CMU, brings back a lot of sweet memories! Congratulations. Your daughter is a smart girl. Does it include a monitor? If you ahve to buy separately, then Dell has that $ 999 computer. And how about service?

Obviously you got a deal. Let us see how CPQ can survive this rock bottom price. Remember Packard Bell/NEC, Acer, Huyndai and another company starting with the letter "A"?

Best to you.

Paul
