The big shorters have cheap options to cover with, that is why no walls today . When buyers become aware ,they will just step back and get cheap stock from the margin call swoosh.

Correction: Under TSE rules 70% marginability is what a stock can receive. What its actually put at depends on your broker's policy. Mine allows 50% down.

I've a feeling that each exchange member can establish its own margin rules although, as you say, the exchange will indicate the margin ceiling.

In any case BII would be stronger if there was no margin being provided at all.
