Every platform needs a killer app to succeed.

Apple had Visicalc.
Kapor left Visicalc and founded Lotus.
Lotus made DOS the platform of choice for business.
Lotus was the killer app for DOS.
Apple would still be the platform of choice if it were not for Lotus.

For the internet, the killer app was the browser.
No advantage initially to any proponent of e-commerce.

For ecommerce the killer app is DigitalMe. Once people use digitalme and see that they can use it to protect their digital identity and make purchases (effortlessly) then everyone will want to have a tie in to an identity vault. Starting with credit card companies and merchants.

DigitalMe is to the internet what Lotus was to the PC. NDS is to the internet what DOS was to the PC.

DigitalMe (the killer app) + NDS (the platform) equals revenue stream.

If Novell grasps this proposition they win.

DigitalMe is going to debut here on the internet much sooner than anyone thinks.
