*****MAKE $$$ AND GET OUT*****
It is very fascinating reading this thread. SUN is one of my favourite companies, not because it has made me a lot of money, but it enjoys a very strategically competitive position in a booming industry.

HOWEVER,I do feel that for investors on the short-term, this might not be a good stock to be in. Very simple logic,

SUNW P/E ratio has gone from 25X to 50X in the last four months

ask yourself realistically,
did their market size double? Answer NO
did their margins improve? Answer NO
does it face competitive pressures inherent in the computer industry?
Answer YES
If you made money, should you dump Answer, probably, if you want to make some fat profits and get back in at a cheaper price.

anyways, have a good weekend, and good luck investing.

cheers

p.s. stock WILL hit $95 in the next three weeks!!

I hope you're right, but I'd be ecstatic if Sun's market value would "merely" double from here. For a long time I've noted that Sun could roughly double its revenues by capturing a fairly modest fraction of IBM's business.

JMHO, as usual.

HTE, thanks for the words of support. At this point we are getting close to agreement. I agree with you that SUNW is an excellent tech company that can compete favorably with IBM and HWP. We are just talking valuation at this point and I know from experience to be very cautious about shorting a company like SUNW.

I grin about your views on MSFT, because I had those exact views on SUNW. I shorted SUNW only recently, but I have had a negative view on SUNW quite awhile. Waiting for it to fall apart, but year after year they seem to only get stronger. Oh well, maybe it is working out for both of us. My real money is long MSFT, my short positions are just part of my trading portfolio. And you are long SUNW so I doubt you have any complaints about investing. <g>
