GST - question for you - I am not a shorter and I don't do much with options, but can you tell me why you would risk trading msft puts as opposed to, say, Sap puts or Dell puts. It seems like you are fighting the tape with msft, the same thing all these guys did with amzn last year and lost. Otoh there are industries such as high end software last year and boxmakers today, where everything is so tenuous... these companies are still expensive.... chances are better that Dell will go down than msft wouldn't you say?

Last year there was so many negatives surrounding Sap and the bulls over there were just like the bears here... they wouldn't go with the trend.

Just curious, I hear a lot of people here placing bets on stocks going down like msft, yahoo etc. and I don't get it.... could it be psycological maybe (trying to "outsmart" the mkt and pros)?

Michelle

GST;

Be careful with your MSFT puts. MSFT is splitting next Monday and there is talk of settlement with DOJ. It made a new high on Thursday with better than average volume, 27 million shares. We had a small pullback on Friday, on reduced volume of 23.6 million. I understand thinking MSFT is ahead of itself in a dubious market. However, it is dangerous to short the leaders. Just my opinion.
