Ron: I agree with most of your points. Perhaps, our main differences are the following:

1. we study a lot of overlapping reports, but, I am certain I study many, many articles you never see, and you probably study some (dealing mostly with specific remediation results)that I don't. I study many, many non- y2k reports, but that are directly and indirectly related, that I believe will have an enormous/devastating cascading effect. Since you presumably do not also study these, and thus do not factor them into your conclusions and predicts, you would thus naturally be far more optimistic than I am.

2. we analyze, as I stated, with totally different standards and frames of reference: you mainly as a programmer, evaluating individual reports.

I see the infrastructure and underpinnings of society as a totally interdependent system: that Y2K is unfixable, being SYSTEMIC!!!Did you note my quote (from 98) of even denialist Greenspan to this effect? Did you see his similiar recent statement to that effect regarding banking?

I believe your predicts are based on an addition standard: you add up the various individual 'good news' of y2k reports per entity, to form an analysis, a deduction, of the whole, correct?

I evaluate all key factors in civilized society, per the Fatal Five factors, and espically the Multi-dimensional Domino Prism tool.

Our debate and results will thus be predictable. Most following your above described senario will be as optimistic as you, and most of those following my senario will be expecting the worst-case senarios.

3. based on the above, our level of prepararations will be diametically opposed. You will probably plan for 1-2 weeks; I am preparing for 1 year minimum (I am not heading for the wilds, tho).

With the above in mind, how can we debate, except, perhaps, debating the significance and impact of individual reports, in some cases. But, even then, you would say "Well, Cheveron will make it based on the fact that they are now 70% finished"!

And, I would say, "But, Ron, how much of their budget have they spent?......describe exactly what they have done with their close-down threatening embedded chips/sytems?.... How many of their suppliers are 3rd party certified compliant?... What if the grid is down?...

I COULD EASILY POST ABOUT 20-30 SUCH
ABSOLUTELY VITAL AND RELEVANT QUESTIONS TO YOU IN EVERY SINGLE CASE YOU SHOW OPTIMISM AFTER READING OR HEARING ABOUT AN INDIVIDUAL CASE!
Not studying the sytemic nature, you would probably be hard-pressed or unable to answer more than a handful of such interelated questions.

So, why then debate?

Re: my so- called "animal" post you vehemently object to:

Of course I am advising everyone to plan extremely responsibly for their pets, as well as for us----

I challange you to answer these questions? How much reserve food will you buy for your cats? Will you buy them a lot of extra toys? What precautions will you make for their water, and clean water if waer delivery systems go down for weeks/months?
WHAT FUEL WILL YOU USE INDOORS FOR LIGHTING, HEATING, COOKING, WHEN THE UTILITIES ARE DOWN, AND HAVE YOU GOTTEN A VETS OPINION FOR HOW TOXIC SUCH WOULD BE FOR CATS OVER X PERIOD OF TIME?

Remember, virtually, all such fuels give off carbon monoxide, at minimum, and deplete oxygen?

You may still think its too extreme to consider the above, BUT, WHAT IF I AND MANY OTHER Y2K EXPERTS ARE CORRECT AND YOUR CATS DIE DUE TO YOUR UNPREPARDNESS AND IRRESPONSIBILITY IN NOT PREPARING ADEQUATELY FOR THEM?

If you were pre-warned an earthquake was coming on a specific date, but without warning of how serious it would be, would you ALSO NOT prepare for their safety and care?

Comments?
