Who are you playing up to Gustave? You sound like a lusting beggar who wants a free ride by offering to lick madams toilet clean.

50 years ago the whole of Germany was a beggar-nation that hungrily gobbled up to USD 40 Billion (actualized in 1997 USD)! Remember the Marshall Plan? So, I find it funny to see today's Germanic jingoists looking to Russia's mobsters for help! Hey, Zhirinowsky, help us! help us in repelling those Yankees off our Balkan backyard!
Is Europe counting on Russia and its military clout to balance NATO in its reshaping of post-1989 Europe? Such an irony! You keep raising your favorite pet-boogeymen: Henry Kissinger and Vladimir Zhirinowsky... But Kissinger's a creature of the COLD WAR!! So, what's your agenda? Frightening the American public opinion with a revival of a Kennedy/Krutchev clash? You sound even older than I!!
BTW, forget about this moron Zhirinowsky (whose real name is Edelstein). If there's any Russian character who'll benefit from the present crisis, it's General Alexander Lebed. So, stop begging Vladimir!

Yet, I sense that the geopolitical tactics of the EU will be to somehow leverage Russia's clout over the Balkans... The reason is that the US involvement in operation Allied Force has dwarfed the other NATO members. So today, the European establishment is resentful and shameful about what's going on in Kosovo: it would have been so much easier for them to mobilize their public opinions if it was the other way around! I mean fanatic Islamists slaughtering innocent Christian, Orthodox, Serbs in Kosovo --such a scenario would have fit smoothly in Europe's ideological mindset (think of Algeria, Iran,...) and France, together with all the other puppet-states would have intervene in this Crusade-like conflict in a snap. Even the Pope would likely have blessed the storming of Pristina...

Unfortunately, the ''bad guys'' are the Serbian military and Kosovar civilians are their victims... Toooo bad!
