"The Salamander in Chief"

He took a huge risk in doing this, and it's looking less and less like it's going to pay off.

The U.S. certainly can't stop now, with the Serb offensive in Kosovo intensifying and one of the U.S.'s best plane shot down, as that would be cutting losses. Cutting losses means admitting losing.

The likely outcome:

1. The same or worse humanitarian disaster.

2. NATO casualties, probably hostages.

3. A more active, enraged and less friendly Russia. (Remember the justification for IMF loans? "But we can't just ignore them, what with all those nukes." Why so easy to ignore them now?)

4. The Russians obtain useful Stealth Technology info from the wreckage.

5. With the Pentagon's Dog and Pony show gone awry, continued and ongoing questions as to why we pay so much for the Stealth.

And all this just for starters.
