David-I am sorry to hear about your problems. You're recommendation of total backup is a great one. For computer illiterates and semi-illiterates it would be nice to have a step by step list of how to do what you are suggesting. Could someone post it for easy reference? to all, how do i convert a text file to an html file in windows 95 explorer? or, for that matter, how do you change the file type of any document - they part after the .

for example, if i want to change a word document to a text document in windows explorer (not in word as this example is easy in word).
