I have noticed tons of signs of inflation except in one important
case..wage increases.. I think I read recently that the hourly average wage was 13 dollars plus .. I have also noticed people's attitudes who have mutual funds etc and not high salaries..they are feeling good!

Eric,

I have seen plenty of signs of inflation in particular sectors. But I have also seen plenty of signs of deflation as well as costs and pricing pressures are undermining various parts of the economy.

That is why you can't overemphasize one part of the economy but must look at the weighted price index for all economic sectors.

Much of the price increases for lumber stem from supply shortages, both in board lumber as well as strong home building demand.

Regards,

Ron

"The price of lumber never fell this winter and is now going up."

That's due to the US protectionist ideology, creating an artificial low supply. So the lumber Canada was sending to USA is being rerouted to Asia. Yet, Canada's surplus in lumber is being turned into secondary products, much to the demise of USA, and benefiet of Canada. This will cause a recessionary trend in the USA in the form of tertiary products created in Canada, and lower productions in USA. So USA shots itself in the foot again.
