<OT>Steve, you aren't joking!

I live in Richmond District and I have been trying to cut down on my driving. The gas prices here are just rediculous, and I heard on the news that because of that Chevron blast a couple days ago the prices will go up more! <ugh>

49er,

The oil companies are ripping us off.

Several years ago, they lobbied hard to get MTBE approved because that prevented out of state suppliers from competing in the CA market. They claim the recent rise in the prices at the pump are due in part to the cost of oil. This may be true, but where were gas prices when oil was near $11.00 per barrel? Also, I heard that the price of gas at a station located outside of the refinery's gates (in Richmond) is significantly higher than a station located in Fresno, hundreds of miles away. This even though the same truck may deliver gas to both stations. It truly is a matter of supply and demand, and the Bay Area consumer is being gouged.
