Shtirlitz, you're right, your opinion is uneducated. You need to check your history of Yugoslavia better!!

Kosovo was granted an independent territory under Tito (while still part of Yugoslavia), but was rescended by Miloshevich after Croatia left Yugoslavia. It was the action of Miloshevich taking away granted sovereignty from Kosovo ( and the killing of anyone who complained) that started the current situation.

Not hardly a civil war, more like the creation of a Greater Serbia and the planned genocide of other ethnic races. Hmmmmmmm...... sound like a German we know? If you can believe it Shtirlitz, there were people that thought Hitler's response to Jews and surrounding countries (which Hitler believed were historically German) was their internal business. How nice for us to have a nice safe country and watch others get murdered by leaders like Miloshevich.

Brent

Uneducated, perhaps. But very sensible. A less educated person can sometimes (often?) know more about right and truth than a Rhodes scholar.

Nato has made it cleat that there will be NO ground troops involved!

Do you wonder when we see all those news clip of refugees we only see women and children and an occasional old man? Do you know where the males in the age range between 16 and 50 are? Many are hiding out in their villages of Kosovo. Others are arming themselves and organizing in Albania. After the Warthogs and Appache helicoptors start taking out the Serbian tanks and personnel carriers the Albanian Kosovar men will be given the task to personally risk their own lives to regain their own homeland.

IMO the Serbs have to face the reality of what has happened to Yugoslavia. SM needs to quit pretending to be Tito.

If the Serbs allowed democratic rule then Kosovo would indeed be an independent state. The Albanian Kosovars are by far the majority and they want their own state. It's no different than what the Slovanians, Croatians, Bosnians and Macedonian wanted and got. Notice that the former republics that were furthest away from Belgrade were able to establish independence the quickest. I eventually expect to see an independent Montenagro and Kosovo.

Even the Russians were eventually smart enough to allow all of the former Soviet Republics to become independent states. In the few territories that the Russians fought over they took heavy losses and finally realized that they could not force their will on non-Russian people. The Serbs are fighting a losing battle. If SM wasn't such a power hungry dictator all the former Yugoslavian republics would have become independent states long ago with little if any blood shed.

Sorry, I have to disagree. There won't be another Vietnam in Serbia. It will be an all out war, not a defensive containment police action. That is where this is heading. I fully expect a ground war with the Alliance invading Serbia proper. I would also forecast that Mr. Milosovec will end up tried and convicted for war crimes against humanity. If he hasn't figured this all out by now, he is not a very competent commander-in-chief, and needs some quick education in military strategy. This preceding air action has only set the stage, a preamble to the real war, a ground war.
