Dear Reg:

State Atty. Gens. are nuts. Their proposal tramples property rights as protected by the Constitution. This will be seen by Jackson as unreasonable and eventually unconstitutional by the Appeals court if he goes along with such a cock a mamy scheme.

This is nuts.

John

Hey Jerry, I'm interested in hearing your opinion on Microsoft losing the case with Blue Mountain (the E-greetings company whose mails were filtered-out by Microsoft Outlook Express 5 beta2's Junk Mail filter)?

The court made Microsoft totally remove the Junk Mail feature (a feature that shipped as disabled by default, and also had a slider to control the level of sensitivity). I am very saddened by this, as it is a clear step toward the government getting into software design. More importantly, I personally thought the Junk Mail tool was a *GREAT* and extremely useful/helpful feature. Yes, it is true that it sometimes filtered my legitimate mail into the Junk Mail folder, but those occasional misdirections were far outweighed by the benefits.
