As far as I can see it is NATO's only out. Russia needs to save face in the world and gain a renewed sense of importance and national pride if they ever hope to get their country back on it's feet. We will end up giving them aide anyway so why not get something in return. Clinton and NATO showed they will react. Russia can show the world they support human rights. The European community would probably treat them with a little extra understanding in the areas of banking and commerce. Russia has alliances with all the countries in the region and could probably be very persuasive in forcing a peaceful resolution. jmho MarkC.
