That's a big help, John. If you have no objection, I'm going to cross post your response on the Gorilla thread.

Thanks,
Frank

<Cdma's selling point early on, and still, was its ability to avoid dropped calls.>

From my personal experience, phone calls are still being dropped, just not as much as my old analog phone dropped them. As a matter of fact, last Saturday morning I was driving from San Diego to Los Angeles about 6:00 A.M. I was using my Qualcomm Phone to listen to the Qualcomm conference call, and dropped service on the 805 in Sorrento ("Wireless") Valley less than half a mile from the Qualcomm headquarters. The irony was not lost on me, but I am happy enough with last week's events to forgive a rare dropped call. By the way, I am on GTE service and the coverage is excellent in the area.

John, you got most of it right.

In case Frank does not know, ASIC is an acronym for Application Specific Integrated Circuit. In other words, part of what QCOM does is make a chip that uniquely contains the programming and computing power that make CDMA work.

Also, I think it is premature to put GlobalStar and "significant revenue streams" in the same sentence. Wait about a year.
