Don't blame all the craziness on "the trading public".

Fair enough. I agree the institutions are equally guilty.

I clouded the point I really meant to make that an analyst restating his existing position when he changes firms has an inappropriate impact on trading behavior by all participants. And this is generally true because the restatement is taken as NEW information.

But the trading action in the Internet stocks is characterized by small-sized trades, evidence that the driving force is the individual investor.
