Many consumers including large businesses will accept a less powerful machine to save half or more on the price. It adds up when a company buys tens of thousands of computers.

Fools rush in where wise men fear to tread, could be eMachine's moto as they rush to fill the Packard Bell void. My guess is when the sound card fails in the first lightning storm that the Salvation Army will have another thud coming from its dumpster in the back (after the relative spends hours trying to fix it for free).
